When to Climb Mount Kilimanjaro

All Year Arround

Mount Meru Trekking And Hiking Tours.

Momela route is the only way up to Mount Meru, and it can be completed in 4 or three days depending on your time and energy. Since you won’t require any technical equipment for the hike, then you should be well prepared and ready for the altitude gain.

Mount Meru is mostly used as a practice for proper acclimatization of climbing the tallest Mountain in Africa (Mount Kilimanjaro).

Mount Meru can be done almost throughout the year except the rainy seasons (February, March, April and December) because it becomes to slippery and cold.

An armed Ranger will be by your side as you cross the open grasslands of Momella National Park on your opening day. You will have an amazing experience as you will have an amazing chance and time of spotting wildlife such as giraffes, elephants, monkeys, buffalo, zebra, and much more.

In the afternoon right after lunch, you will begin your hike through a thick rainy forest of Mount Meru. Dinner and overnight will be spent at Miriakamba huts.

Day 2Miriakamba Huts - Saddle Huts.

On this day you will pass through a thick rainforest and into the more Spartan heath region, with giant clumps of heather and other moorland scrub dotting the landscape.

You will also enjoy stunning views of both the ash tray and the Meru crater as you hike along the ridge of the Meru Crater.
Mount Meru offers an extra option, to climb to the top of little Mt. Meru within the Meru mountain for a panoramic view of Arusha, only for those with extra gas.
